Home Again!

Mary and I have just returned home from a wonderful retreat in Florida!

We usually fly into a city and never get to see the city. This time because of flight schedules, we arrived a day early and had some time to see the sights Amelia Island had to offer. This is what Mary caught just off shore. It was a battle but she won!

We got to shop in some wonderful boutiques and eat in some fabulous local restaurants before all the fun at the retreat started. We also learned about “Sweet Tea”. If you don’t know what sweet tea is… ya’ll aren’t from around here…are ya!

This is Laura, our friend and babysitter. She made sure that we got picked up from and returned to the airport along with entertaining us all throughout the weekend.

She doesn’t exactly look like someone assigned to keep us out of trouble!

This is our friend Laurie, who set up the retreat…

She is going to become my personal shopper in Florida. We found a great little boutique and she has promised to send me photos of all the new things that they get in. She also made Mary and I aprons decorated with our new Spring Fever fabrics!

And lets not forget about her partner and our friend Peg in the blue outfit.

Peg has more energy than the energizer bunny and we can’t wait to see her at market in Minneapolis in a few months.

These ladies went above the call of duty making sure that we all had a great time!

We got to see some old friends.

Including two sets of sisters…

One set with MOM…

And this pair of sisters who came prepared! Look at all that luggage!

We spent the days stitching quilts, visiting, and making our new Pinafore Bag.

Here are some of the completed bags!

And Jean…I didn’t get a picture of her bag before she left.

Thanks for the great time ladies!!

Hope to see you all again soon!

Barb

Nice pictures! I had a wonderful time on the retreat! Everyone was terrific.

Having the pinafore bag in front of me (in the photo) makes me look thin… I need to carry that bag everywhere, I guess! :)

PS I finished the first quilt already… it is quilted, the binding is done, and it is even washed and dried! :)

Ah, Sweet Tea. Don’t order it at a restaurant in California! They have no idea how to make it.

Retreats look like so much fun! Maybe I need to plan to meet my sister at one.

    Dear Mary and Barb,
I just started your quilt pattern for “Fiona.” Imagine my surprise when I turned over the pattern and saw your address (36 W Citation). I grew up at 65 W Citation at the end of the street! I was just tickled pink! I hope you love the neighborhood and it is still as friendly as ever. I’ll be sure to send you a picture of the quilt when I am done!

Best wishes to you both, Jen G

    Hello Sisters,
I have stumbled across your wonderful blog and fell in love with your pinafore bag and went in search of your pattern. Alas, to purchase same I have to fill in the obligatory form which has caused me some problems as I live in Ireland – we dont have postal code, and city etc so I cant get around this on the form – please help I really want to purchase the pattern! Thank you xx

    Barb and Mary,
My sister and I had so much fun at the Amelia Island retreat and are already planning for the next one. We might even let our husbands come, they can golf and we will sew!
Of course, we would probably need a truck next time!
    Thanks again,
    Glenda and Cathy

Hi from Florida. Maybe you don’t know about catch and release? There was no need to kill that shark! Next time, enjoy the battle and let him go in the end!

  11. Laura B says:

I think it’s great someone thinks the shark is real!!!!! Who would take the time to go shark fishing when you are quilting with the girls!!!! I love that picture!!! Boy does my trailer look pretty good too! Can’t wait till next year!!!!
