Be Mine!!

Happy Valentines Day Give Away!!

Chelsea over at Bunny Tales and Gibby over at Minick and Simpson have decided to join Bella in a Valentines Day fashion show and give away!

If you are not a regular to our blogs ~ Chelsea, Gibby, and Bella are dogs.

The idea came about during an email conversation and we just rolled with it. It became one of those ideas that even had me running outside and going through my own garbage.

The suggestion that had me running for the trash came from Polly Minick who said that I should make Bella’s valentine outfit from my old pants with the giant hole. After all she said “They are red and white”!

So after plunging into my own garbage, the pants were rescued from the egg shells and other yucky stuff, washed again, and  reborn as…..

TA DA!!!!
The pants live on!!!!

I simply turned one of the pant legs into a doggie mini skirt and  trimmed the hem with a red zig zag stitch.

I then glued some batting onto pink and red fabrics, cut out the small puffy hearts and raw edge appliqued them over the snow flakes.

That was the easy part.

Half a box of dog cookies later….

This is the best picture that I could get!

She does not look too happy!

Even with all those cookies and sitting on her favorite chair, the only way that I could get a decent picture was to remove the skirt.

Mary’s suggestion is that this should become an annual event. One of my favorite TV shows is Project Runway.

This could be called Project Dog Way. Contestants would have to pull items from the trash and create high fashion dog outfits!

I will have to think about this idea.

Anyhow we will be giving this prize away…..

Just leave us a comment and your lucky name could be picked by Mary on Wednesday morning.

Happy Valentines Day!!

Woof!!

My daughter found your blog and emailed it to me. She said I would like it and I did. I am also a quilter and dog lover. My dog is a little bigger (like 100 pound black lab)and we love her. I’ll be back to visit often.

  6. I knew my mom would love your website (Joanne Smisko from above comment) She makes the most beautiful quilts. I too have developed a love for quilts and really enjoy their beauty. I have several that my mom created for me—I will treasure them always. I have posted pictures on my blog if you would like to see them. (1-11-10 post) Eventhough I am not a quilter I will be checking back often to visit your blog. I enjoyed my stay.
    Have a great day
    Mimi~

Love the story about your dog. We dress our Yorkie (Ruby) for the cold weather but not for a Holiday. I also love your quilting.

Bella, what a pretty dog you are. Your skirt is sooo cute and your necklace is to die for. I wish I had a pretty dog like you – you must be a joy to be around.

My dogs would feel the same way, Bella!

  13. Dawn says:

Chloe would never, I mean NEVER, stand for being dressed up. But Bella sure looks cute!!!!

  14. RC says:

What a cutie!!! Love that the pants lived on. =)

  15. Jean C. says:

You know of course… that you need to hold onto the “pants” and make a pair of “pants” for Bella… she is a patient one isn’t she! The hearts are great… and I do like that “extra” touch with the cute collar trim… maybe the skirt was too tight after all the doggie treats! Hope that it was an enjoyable Valentines Day for you both.

Bella; how beautiful you are. My Murphy says that you look stunning. He also requires a half a box of bones in order to trim his nails:) I love the pink giveaway; Murphy happenes to love pink as well, despite being a fella. He says he is secure in his manhood! LOL! He loves pink; his bowl is now pink; his binkie is pink; and everything that is pink meets with instant attention. Hope we win! Murphy says it is nice to make new friends.

Our yellow lab, Lucky(who is so named as we are lucky to have him and he is lucky to have us) will not dress up. The reindeer ears fall down around his neck, the scarfs flop down there too and the fleece wrap I made for him gets pulled off and tossed in the snow. Try tramping thru 2 feet to retreive a “lost” wrap on a cold blizzard-y day. Bella is a hottie!

  18. wendy says:

She is absolutely adorable, I wish I could dress my dog up like that but she is too big.

  26. Amanda Gaskin says:

Yes, I would have to agree. Her enthusiasm for the skirt seems a little lacking. Perhaps she is a tomboy and would prefer shorts?

  27. Paula L. says:

The skirt is so cute! Please count me in, thanks!
